Matchmaker Integration
Gameye + Pragma Engine
An official Capacity Provider in Pragma Engine 2025.2. Pragma forms the match; Gameye starts the dedicated server in about half a second.

Which game server hosting works with Pragma Engine?
Gameye does, as an official Capacity Provider: it ships as a ServerProviderPlugin inside Pragma Engine 2025.2. You point Pragma's game server allocation at Gameye with configuration, not custom code. Pragma's game server documentation also covers Amazon GameLift Servers. Hathora and Unity Multiplay were supported too, but both have stopped hosting game servers.
Pragma Engine handles accounts, parties, matchmaking and game instances. When a game instance needs a dedicated server, Pragma asks its configured provider for one. Gameye is that provider: it starts your server container on bare metal first, with cloud only when bare metal is exhausted, and hands the connection details back.
Because the plugin lives in Pragma's own codebase, a studio already on Pragma doesn't build or maintain a connector. If you came to Pragma with Hathora, moving to Gameye means updating your Capacity Provider config, not rebuilding your matchmaking architecture.
- Players queue and Pragma's matchmaking forms the match
- Pragma creates a game instance and asks its Capacity Provider, Gameye, for a server
- The plugin requests a session from Gameye in the region you configured
- Gameye starts your server container, in about 0.5 seconds on average
- Your server links itself to the game instance, as described in Pragma's game server guide
- Pragma sends the connection details to the players, who connect to the dedicated server
Pragma-compatible hosting in 2026
Pragma is provider-agnostic, but only some hosts have a ready-made plugin. Here is where each option stands.
| Host | Pragma integration | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Gameye | Official ServerProviderPlugin (Pragma Engine 2025.2) | Available, with a self-serve trial |
| Amazon GameLift Servers | Documented by Pragma | Available; AWS only |
| Hathora | Documented by Pragma | Game server hosting closed May 5, 2026 |
| Unity Multiplay | Documented by Pragma | Direct hosting ended March 31, 2026 |
| GameFabric (Nitrado) | No documented integration | Available |
| Anything else | Build your own GameServerProviderPlugin | Your team builds and maintains it |

The Gameye Capacity Provider ships with Pragma Engine 2025.2.
A Linux dedicated server build in a container, pushed to Docker Hub or GitHub Container Registry. No Gameye SDK goes in your server binary. See getting started.
Configure it in Pragma with your Gameye credentials and application. Talk to us and we'll walk your team through the configuration.
Why Gameye for Pragma studios
The plugin ships in Pragma Engine itself, so there is no connector for your team to write or keep up to date.
Hathora's game server hosting closed on May 5, 2026. On Pragma, moving to Gameye means updating your Capacity Provider config. GameFabric, Hathora's recommended path, has no documented Pragma integration.
Servers run on bare metal first, averaging 4.7 GHz across the fleet. A UE5 server's game thread is limited by single-core speed, so a faster core holds a steadier tick rate.
Containers start in about 0.5 seconds on average, so players don't wait between "match found" and a ready server.
$0.07/vCPU/hr on demand or $0.035 reserved, with no per-GB egress. Studios running Pragma with their own EC2 fleet still pay about $0.09/GB there.
Frequently asked questions
Which game server hosting works with Pragma Engine?
Gameye works with Pragma Engine as an official Capacity Provider: it ships as a ServerProviderPlugin inside Pragma Engine 2025.2, so you point Pragma's game server allocation at Gameye with configuration rather than custom code. Pragma's documentation also covers Amazon GameLift Servers. Hathora and Unity Multiplay were supported too, but Hathora's game server hosting closed on May 5, 2026 and Unity Multiplay's direct hosting ended on March 31, 2026.
Is Gameye an official Pragma Engine provider?
Yes. Gameye ships as an official ServerProviderPlugin inside Pragma Engine 2025.2. It is a Capacity Provider in Pragma's own codebase, not a third-party connector you have to build or maintain.
How do I move a Pragma + Hathora game to Gameye?
Package your dedicated server as a Docker image, push it to Docker Hub or GitHub Container Registry, create the application in Gameye, and update your Pragma Capacity Provider config to point at Gameye. Your matchmaking and Pragma backend stay as they are: migrating means updating a config, not rebuilding your matchmaking architecture.
Do I need to write custom integration code to use Gameye with Pragma?
No. Configure a Capacity Provider pointing at Gameye and the plugin handles the allocation handoff between Pragma and Gameye. You only build a custom GameServerProviderPlugin if you want a provider Pragma doesn't already support.
Does Gameye work for Unreal Engine 5 servers on Pragma?
Yes. Gameye runs any dedicated server that builds for Linux and runs in a Docker container, including Unreal Engine 5, with no Gameye SDK in your server binary. Servers run on bare metal first, averaging 4.7 GHz across the fleet, which matters because a UE5 server's game thread is limited by single-core speed.
Does Pragma itself run on Gameye?
No. Gameye runs your dedicated game servers. Your Pragma backend runs where you host it today, and Pragma asks Gameye for a game server each time a game instance needs one.
